UPDATE: See video of Israelis celebrating attack on Turkish Aid Ship - infront of Turkish Embassy,Tel Aviv.
Un-flipping-believable. How does one say this is an accident or a mistake when people are celebrating it like a victory? Insane.
Oh wait! Now that they think about it, put the party flags down because they're actually very upset.
"It’s the military failure combined with the international damage. Most people could live with that if it had been done successfully,'' says Tom Segev, a leading Israeli historian. "It's not that people are angry that people in Gaza are hungry. It was an operation that was ill-conceived and didn't go well enough. They hate when things go wrong.''..."It was stupid on our part. There was no way the mission could have been done properly. It's the government's fault, I don't blame the soldiers," says Maureen Bassan, a retired English teacher. "I don't believe the activists were humanitarian. They knew this was a way to get Israel to do a stupid thing, and I don't like the fact that we fell into the trap.''So if it had worked, it would have been great, no problem whacking those fuckers on those boats. Who cares if the people in Gaza starve. But since it didn't work out, and now they have to deal with all this international bullshit, this was totally stupid and a trap. Yeah yeah... that's the ticket...

mistake - a wrong action attributable to bad judgment or ignorance or inattention
Israeli mistake? Killing passengers on the Mavi Marmara.
Lieberman makes the following claims:
- the passengers are terrorist supporters
- the passengers fired at IOF solders as soon as they boarded (ie: raided) the ships
- all attempts to enter dialog and "reach an understanding with the organizers" were rejected
- Israel does not INTEND TO ALLOW any attack on its sovereignty by terror supporters
Deputy Prime Minister Avigdor Lieberman spoke with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Baroness Catherine Ashton, and with German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle on Monday regarding the IDF flotilla raids which took place earlier on Monday. Lieberman said that the passengers on the ships were not freedom fighters, but terrorist supporters who fired at IDF soldiers as soon as the latter boarded the ships.
Liberman explained to his colleagues that all Israeli attempts to enter into a dialogue at an earlier stage and reach an understanding with the organizers of the flotilla were rejected by them. "What happened this morning was pre-planned violence and Israeli does not intend to allow any attack on its sovereignty by groups of terror-supporters and anarchists," Lieberman said.
So if Avigdor Lieberman says the passengers are not passengers, they are terrorist supporters, he says that because the Palestinians are also redefined as terrorists. So if the Palestinians are terrorists, then you can't support them without being a terrorist supporter. See? So simples.
Also see how the passengers engaging in self-defense from the offensive IOF harassment and raid becomes the the terrorist supporters attacking the IOF.
Notice that Israel "does not intend to allow" any terrorist supporters to violate Israeli sovereignty, even way out in international waters!
Everything is simply REDEFINED to serve Israel's ends. Words are meaningless to them. Facts are meaningless.
For instance, according to the JPost, the passengers were armed with knives, bats and metal pipes. They got the pistols off of the IOF commandos who boarded the ship from helicopters in a 2AM raid.
Upon boarding the ships, the soldiers encountered fierce resistance from the passengers who were armed with knives, bats and metal pipes. The soldiers used non-lethal measures to disperse the crowd. The activists, according to an IDF report, succeeded in stealing two handguns from soldiers and opened fire, leading to an escalation in violence. So the passengers assumed, like any people would, that armed commandos dropping from helicopters at 2AM were not there for tea, and they defended themselves with the items at hand, not as described in the subtitle to that very same story: IDF: Soldiers were met by well-planned lynch, concealed handguns.
That is not what the IOF report says. The report says the activists succeeded in stealing two handguns from the soldiers, presumably in SELF-DEFENSE from heavily armed commandos dropping out of helicopters in the middle of the night.
And anyway, people on the boat dispute the claim that they grabbed soldiers' guns, and even if they did it was in self-defense. "People had the right to defend themselves against soldiers armed with machine guns.''
The big surprise here for Israel is that people fought back. Typical bullies. They just can't believe their eyes when anyone fights back.
More from JPost. Pay attention to their own words. They will HANG THEMSELVES with their own words, because they have no regard for the facts or the truth, so they will make many contradictory statements and get all tangled up in their own lies.
“As the 15 of us slid down the ropes, 30 of them were waiting for us on the deck,” one of the commandos later told reporters. “They charged us and threw a few of the soldiers off the deck to the floor below. We did not expect to find ourselves in such a situation.”
The assessment within the Navy was that the activists would resist the Israeli takeover of their ship but along the lines of the demonstrations the IDF faces weekly in the West Bank where Palestinians protest against the security barrier. Rocks and punches would be thrown as well as an occasional knife but not the extent of violence they met.
As the rope fell from the helicopter onto the Mavi Marmara’s deck, some of the Turkish activists grabbed it, tied it to an antenna likely hoping that it would bring down the helicopter. The Navy commandos decided to still go ahead with the operation and began sliding down onto the ship.
Armed with rifles that could shoot paintballs – which can hurt but not kill – the soldiers landed on the ship and immediately came under attack by dozens of activists armed with knives, bats and metal pipes. Activists grabbed soldiers and tried to hold them hostage, stripping them of their helmets and equipment.
One of the soldiers tried to protect a commando who was being lynched by a group of activists. They were instructed by the flotilla commander to refrain from using their sidearm unless their lives were at risk.
The force threw several stun grenades but the violent attacks continued. Two soldiers were injured and some of the activists succeeded in stealing one of the soldier’s guns. Shots were fired and one of the soldiers fell to the ground unconscious. Fearing for their lives, the soldiers asked and received permission to open fire, first taking aim at the activists’ feet.
In one corner of the ship, the commandos saw a gun flash. They returned fire and started chasing the shooter but could not find him.
As the clashes intensified, additional commandos boarded the ship as well as members of the Border Police’s Yasam unit who are experts in riot control and crowd dispersion. After less than an hour, the ship was in Israeli hands. The price though was steep – eight soldiers were injured, several of them seriously and at least nine activists were killed.
By the evening, the naval commandos were back at their base in northern Israel and had begun their debriefing.
The videos taken by the IDF were passed around throughout the defense establishment and made their way to other special forces, including the Israel Police’s elite counter-terror unit Yamam, which had fought to participate in the mission but had been left on the sidelines due to legal complications involving police operations out at sea.
“The soldiers acted with the utmost nobility,” said one police source close to the Yamam. “They engaged in hand-to-hand combat, sustained injuries, but only opened fire after one of them was lying on the ground unconscious and two others had been shot. This was an unbelievable demonstration of restraint.”
In the close up footage, obviously taken by the IOF stationed close by and ready to go with night vision camera, you can see the passengers defending themselves with sticks and, in one case, a chair.
Don't miss The Israel Project's 2009 Global Language Directory, a handbook from Frank Luntz describing all the many ways language can be twisted so that Israel is always pure as the driven snow!
I wrote my first Language Dictionary for The Israel Project in 2003. Since that time, Israel has
had three Prime Ministers, several stalled peace initiatives, found itself the victim of attack from its northern and southern borders, and has suffered greatly in the court of public opinion. On the other hand, the daily suicide bombings have stopped, and Hamas & Hezbollah have shown themselves to be the brutal terrorist organizations that Israel has warned about. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
All of the material in this document is new or updated based on research conducted in 2008 and^^^^^^^
2009. Some of the language will be familiar; most of the “Words That Work” boxes come from Israeli representatives and spokespeople. But, the polling, strategic recommendations and guidance are all based on the current situation. I hope that advocates for Israel will benefit from the massive amount of work that went into the creation of this booklet. I also hope that this will be the last Israel Language Dictionary I ever have to craft.
And remember, it’s not what you say that counts. It’s what people hear.
